Anti-Skid Epoxy with Grit — Won't Spray

There are a couple of reasons by Amazing GOOP® Anti-Skid Epoxy with Grit will not spray paint and below are the key troubleshooting areas.

  1. The Anti-Skid nozzle is clogged with dried paint and grit.
  2. Paint and grit have settled to the bottom of can and is clogging the draw tube of the valve.

It is important for Anti-Skid to be room temperature before application and will help avoid these issues. It may be possible to artificially boost the pressure by placing Anti-Skid in a pan of hot tap water for 4-5 minutes. (Please NOTE: Do not boil the can—it could explode!)

  1. To clear the clogged spray nozzle:
        a.  Be sure Anti-Skid is at room temperature. Let it sit for several
hours in 70 °F (21 °C) room or place can in hot tap water for
             4-5 minutes.
        b.  Shake the can vigorously for at least 90 seconds.
        c.  Remove the spray nozzle and rinse the nozzle with warm tap
water to remove paint build up. Place nozzle back on can
holding the orifice pointing away from person, and gently put it
into the valve via a slow twisting motion. This will help to
eliminate accidental spraying of the paint.
        d.  Sometimes continually shaking and spraying the can upright,
then upside down over and over can clear the obstruction.
Paint may come out in a string or spitting but it will clear then
             spray normal. Try 8-10 times.
        e.  Turn the can upside down and spray a test on cardboard. If the
can sprays, then be sure the spray is clear (only propellant).
This will mean your nozzle is clear and ready for use. If no
spray comes out, or sputters, it indicates a clog in the draw
tube (see #2) or it may be necessary to insert a new spray
             nozzle on the can.
        f.  Contact Eclectic Products Technical Service at 800-767-4667 for
a new nozzle replacement. The spray nozzles for Anti-Skid
have a larger opening than regular spray paint nozzles to allow
             the grit to exit easily.

  2. To clear the draw tube:
        a.  Be sure Anti-Skid is at room temperature. Let it sit for several
hours in 70 °F (21 °C) room or place can in hot tap water for
             4-5 minutes.
        b.  Shake the can vigorously for at least 90 seconds.
        c.  Spray the paint on test cardboard for several seconds until the
             paint appears to flow freely.
        d.  Turn can upside down and press nozzle until no paint comes
             out (only propellant).
